Gambling Experience:
When I was growing up every Friday night my father had his friends over for a friendly poker game. When I was about 14 my father taught me how to play. On the first Friday after I turned 18 my father invited me to join the game, and after that I was hooked.
Besides playing in my fathers Friday night game, I decided to start my own Saturday night game with my friends. The pots were smaller and there was no drinking but it was still just as much fun, maybe even more because I was always look at as the kid sitting at the adult table in that game.
I was also the youngest of my friends from the Saturday night game, so I was the last to turn 21. but that Saturday night we decided for one of the first times to skip our little game and head down to Atlantic City New Jersey. It was a 7 hour drive so we left early in the morning.
I do not remember the name of the casino we first went to, but I do remember seeing all the people and hearing all the noises. We went over to the poker tables and I could not believe they were a 5 dollar minimum. I hade been playing since I was 14 and regularly since I was 18 but we played for quarters, if someone had a really good hand maybe the most it would get up to was a dollar. I was extremely intimidated by this so I did not try it. I spent most the night playing the slots.
It was about 10 pm that night and we decided we were not going to make our millions on that night. So we decided to leave and head home. As we were leaving the gamming area I found a 20 dollar roulette chip on the floor. I was going to cash it in, but decided to play it instead.
I really did not know how to play, but I seemed pretty straight forward I could pick red or black and if I was right I would double my money which would have bought me a full tank of gas for the ride home and something to eat. So I watched the wheel for 3 spins and all 3 were black. I figured it had to be red this time and placed the chip on red and I won. I wanted to take my 40 dollars and go but my friends were telling me to try again and I figured why not it was found money. So this time I decided to put it on red again and again I won. Well I stayed there long enough to make up all the money I had lost plus put gas in my tank and take my friends out for something to eat.
That was 14 years ago. Ever since then the first Saturday of every month we still go down to Atlantic City.
